KU to hold news conference today on response to open records ruling

LAWRENCE-- University of Kansas Chancellor Robert Hemenway and Athletics Director Lew Perkins will hold a news conference at 5:15 p.m.today at the Horejsi Family Athletics Center on the KU campus regarding the university's response to the recent open records ruling.

In the decision, Douglas County District Court Judge Jack Murphy ruled against the university, which had denied a media Êrequest for the employment agreements for its athletics director on the basis of several letters in 1993 from the Kansas Attorney General, who determined such agreements were not subject to release.

Chancellor Hemenway will open the press conference with a statement regarding the university's decision whether to appeal. Ê
