LAWRENCE -- Students from 10 Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, Sept. 20, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The 203 students, seniors from Sedgwick County, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 7:30 p.m. program at Valley Center High School, 800 N. Meridian Ave., Valley Center.
Honorees are listed below.
Leonard Krishtalka, director of the Natural History Museum and Biodiversity Research Center, will speak at the program. Kansas Alumni Association representative Chris Lazzarino, associate editor of the Kansas Alumni magazine, is in charge of award presentations.
The program is free. A reception will follow.
Nick and Naomi Ard, Maize, and Rachel and Jason Purdy, Wichita, will be Sedgwick County alumni coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. It has honored 89, 875 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
