KU to honor 51 high school seniors in Garden City on Feb. 16
LAWRENCE -- Students from five Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Feb. 16, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 51 seniors, seniors from Finney, Hamilton and Kearny county high schools, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. program at the Southwind Country Club, South Star Route, Garden City.
Honorees are listed below.
Richard A. Johnson, KU associate vice provost for student success and dean of students, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representatives Michael W. Davis, senior vice president of alumni programs, and Carolyn Barnes, director of the Kansas Honors Program, are in charge of award presentations.
The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $15 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Rebecca Crotty and Dana Nanninga, both of Garden City, will serve as the Finney/Kearny county coordinators and Rob Gale Jr., Syracuse, will serve as the Hamilton County coordinator.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 92,630 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
