KU to honor 21 high school seniors in Larned on Feb. 10
LAWRENCE -- Students from seven Kansas high schools will be honored Thursday, Feb. 10, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 21 seniors from Edwards, Pawnee and Stafford county high schools will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. program at the Knights of Columbus Club, Scenic Drive, Larned.
Honorees' names are listed below.
KU Chancellor Robert Hemenway will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representatives Kevin Corbett, president/CEO, and Carolyn Barnes, director of the Kansas Honors Program, are in charge of award presentations.
The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $15 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
John Adams, Larned, will serve as the site coordinator, Al Frame, Kinsley, will serve as the Edwards County coordinator, Mike Best, Larned, will serve as the Pawnee County coordinator and Gayle Cornwell, St. John, will serve as the Stafford County coordinator.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 92,630 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
