3 KU coaches to visit alumni, new KU students in Great Bend on June 22

LAWRENCE -- Three University of Kansas coaches-- Ray Bechard, volleyball coach, Bonnie Henrickson, women's basketball coach, and Clint Bowen, assistant football coach -- will meet with KU alumni and new KU students from six central Kansas counties for a picnic at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at the Club at Stone Ridge and Golf Course, 24th and Frey streets, in Great Bend.

Monty Strecker, volunteer with the Great Bend chapter of the Kansas Alumni Association, is helping coordinate the picnic and sendoff for new KU students from the six-county area. Mike Davis, senior vice president for alumni programs, and Heath Peterson, director of Kansas chapters, both from Lawrence, also will attend the event. The cost is $18 per person.

" The Kansas Alumni Association is in the process of establishing a strong, viable chapter in central Kansas that will bring alumni together regularly," Peterson said. "The chapter members will be advocates for KU's legislative needs and student recruitment needs, and will develop relationships and promote KU in central Kansas. KU has exceptional leaders in the area, and we need their support."
