KU to honor 34 high school seniors from Marshall, Washington counties March 8

LAWRENCE -- Students from nine Kansas high schools will be honored Tuesday, March 8, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

A total of 34 seniors from Marshall and Washington county high schools will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. program at the Annunciation Cigna Center, 402 N. Maple in Frankfort.

Honorees are listed below.

Stephen R. McAllister, dean of the KU School of Law, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Kevin Corbett, president, is in charge of award presentations.

The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $9 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.

Dr. Kenneth and Zita Duensing, Blue Rapids, will serve as the site and Marshall County coordinators, and Dr. Larry and Nancy Stoppel, Washington, will serve as the Washington County coordinators.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 92,630 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
