KU honored 43 high school seniors in Pittsburg on March 7
LAWRENCE -- Students from six Kansas high schools were honored Wednesday, March 7, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 43 seniors from Crawford County high schools were named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. program at Pittsburg State University, Crimson and Gold Room, Jack Overman Student Center, Pittsburg.
Honorees are listed below.
Lisa Pinamonti Kress, KU director of admissions and scholarships and a former Pittsburg resident, was the speaker. Kansas Alumni Association representative Jennifer Alderdice, director of student programs, was in charge of award presentations.
Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association. Parents and alumni purchased tickets.
Nancy Hoff Scott, Pittsburg, served as the site coordinator, and Dr. Rodney and Karen Odgers, Pittsburg, were county coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 92,630 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
