KU to honor 136 high school seniors from Wyandotte County on Nov. 14
LAWRENCE -- Students from nine Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, Nov. 14, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 136 seniors from Wyandotte County high schools will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 7 p.m. program at Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd Terrace, Kansas City, Kan.
Honorees' names are listed below.
Marlesa Roney, vice provost for student success, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representatives Jen Alderdice, director for Student Programs, and Kim Shears, Alumni Programs intern, are in charge of award presentations. The program is free for all attendees, and a reception will follow.
Christopher Schneider, Kansas City, Kan., will serve as the site coordinator. Mary Ann Kancel, Leawood, and Stephanie Parker, Kansas City, Kan., will serve as the Wyandotte County co-coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the Kansas Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
