KU chancellor to speak to top high school seniors from Harvey and Reno counties
LAWRENCE -- Students from 13 Kansas high schools will be honored Tuesday, Oct. 25, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 130 seniors from high schools in Harvey and Reno counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Grand Prairie Hotel and Convention Center, 1400 N. Lorraine, Hutchinson.
Honorees' names are listed below.
KU Chancellor Robert Hemenway will speak and Kansas Alumni Association president Kevin Corbett will be in charge of award presentations.
The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $15 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Terry Edwards, Hutchinson, will serve as the site coordinator and Reno County coordinator. Sue Ice, Newton, will serve as the Harvey County coordinator.
The KU Endowment Association and the Kansas Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
