KU to honor 62 high school seniors from Geary, Dickinson, Morris counties Nov. 9
LAWRENCE -- Students from eight Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Nov. 9, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 62 seniors from Geary, Dickinson and Morris county high schools will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Courtyard by Marriott, 310 Hammons Drive, Junction City.
Honorees' names are listed below.
William "Bill" Crowe, Spencer Research librarian at KU, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Jamie Winkelman, coordinator for Alumni Programs, is in charge of award presentations.
The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $21 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Mark Edwards, Junction City, will be the site coordinator. Julie Hamel and Todd and Sue Frieze, all of Chapman, will be county co-coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the Kansas Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
