KU to honor 61 high school seniors from 6 SW Kansas counties Nov. 9 in Liberal
LAWRENCE -- Students from 10 Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Nov. 9, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 61 seniors from high schools in Morton, Seward, Grant, Stanton, Haskell and Stevens counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 7 p.m. dinner program at Seward County Community College, Student Union, 1801 N. Kansas, Liberal.
Honorees' names are listed below.
Paul Carttar, executive vice chancellor for external affairs, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Heath Peterson, director for Kansas Chapters and interim director of the Kansas Honors Program, is in charge of award presentations.
The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $11 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
The KU Alumni Association will be the site coordinator and coordinator for Morton and Seward counties. Kevin and Catherine Moyer, Ulysses, will be coordinators for Grant and Stanton counties. Sterling and Jackie Hall, Sublette, will be the Haskell County coordinators. Erick and Debbie Nordling, Hugoton, will be the Stevens County coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the Kansas Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
