KU to honor 93 high school seniors from Riley, Clay, Pottawatomie counties Nov. 7
LAWRENCE -- Students from 11 Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, Nov. 7, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 93 seniors from high schools in Riley, Clay and Pottawatomie counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Manhattan Country Club, 1531 N. 10th St., Manhattan.
Honorees' names are listed below.
Paul Carttar, executive vice chancellor for external affairs, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Jennifer Sanner, senior vice president for communications and editor of Kansas Alumni magazine, is in charge of award presentations.
The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $12 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Toni and Mark Stremel, Manhattan, will be the site co-coordinators as well as the Riley County co-coordinators. Lucy Mulroney and Sylvia Mansfield, Clay Center, will be the Clay County co-coordinators. Doug and Joyce Elcock, Wamego, will be the Pottawatomie County co-coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the Kansas Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
