KU to honor high school seniors from Butler, Elk, Greenwood counties Sept. 26

LAWRENCE -- Students from 15 Kansas high schools will be honored Monday, Sept. 26, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

A total of 118 seniors, seniors from Butler, Elk and Greenwood County high schools, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the El Dorado Civic Center, 201 East Central, El Dorado.

Honorees' names are listed below.

Lisa Pinamonti Kress, KU director of admissions, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association
representative Mike Davis, senior vice president for Alumni Programs, is in charge of award presentations.

The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $10 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Mike Coash, El Dorado, will serve as the site coordinator. Scott Ennis, El Dorado, will serve as the Butler County coordinator and Joan Grydner and Jerry Handley, both of Eureka, will serve as coordinators for Elk and Greenwood counties.

The KU Endowment Association and the Kansas Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes throughout the State of Kansas.
