KU to honor 45 Anderson and Franklin County HS seniors at Ottawa on Sept. 21
LAWRENCE -- Students from seven Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Sept. 21, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
A total of 45 seniors from high schools in Anderson and Franklin counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at Ottawa High School, 1120 S. Ash St., Ottawa.
Honorees' names are listed below.
Paul Carttar, executive vice chancellor for external affairs, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Jamie Winkelman, coordinator of alumni programs, is in charge of award presentations.
The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $8.50 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Terry Solander, Garnett, will serve as the site coordinator, and Charlie and Margy Porter, Ottawa, will serve as the county coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the Kansas Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes throughout the State of Kansas.
