KU to honor 19 high school seniors from four western Kansas counties April 19

LAWRENCE — Students from five Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, April 19, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and KU Endowment.

A total of 19 seniors from high schools in Greeley, Wichita, Scott and Lane counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at The Majestic Theatre, 420 Main St., Scott City.

Honorees’ names are listed below.

Marlesa Roney, vice provost of Student Success, will speak. Heath Peterson, director of the Kansas Honors Program, is in charge of award presentations.

The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $15 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and KU Endowment.

Jerry and Marsha Edwards of Scott City will be site coordinator for Lane, Scott and Wichita counties. Dalene Moser of Tribune will be coordinator for Greeley County.

The Kansas Honors Program began in 1971. It has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
