Feeling finals fatigue? KU encourages students to let it all out
LAWRENCE — It’s finals week. To relieve stress, University of Kansas students will:
A. Take a quiet bubblebath and hope their roommates don’t barge in
B. Indulge in tubes of raw cookie dough
C. Snap a dozen pencils in half
D. Scream as loud as possible with a big group of friends
The correct answer, according to staff at KU’s Student Involvement and Leadership Center, should be “D.”
The center hopes to start a new tradition this semester with Finals Frenzy. The event begins at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13. Students, faculty and staff are invited to gather outside the Kansas Union for a good yell.
“As a staff, we were kicking around a few ideas, and someone mentioned that at another Big 12 school at the end of the semester, they do a big ‘yelp’ to relieve some stress and gear up for finals,” said Aaron Quisenberry, associate director of the center. “We thought that would be kind of cool to try at KU.”
After all the yelling has subsided, hot chocolate and cookies will be available inside the union. And then it’s back to the tests.
The University of Kansas is a major comprehensive research and teaching university. University Relations is the central public relations office for KU's Lawrence campus.
