KU to honor 51 high school seniors from Linn, Miami counties Feb. 22

LAWRENCE — Students from six Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Feb. 22, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

A total of 51 seniors from high schools in Linn and Miami counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at Pleasanton High School, 1001 Ash, Pleasanton.

Honorees’ names are listed below.

Rich Morrell, associate vice provost for student success, will speak. KU Alumni Association representative Heath Peterson, director of the Kansas Honors Program, and Sarah Lingeman, Kansas Honors Program coordinator, are in charge of award presentations.

The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $9 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.

Kenneth and Mary Asher, Mound City, will be site coordinators. Bob Nicholson of Paola is coordinator for both counties.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
