Media advisory: Chancellor to introduce new provost at KU on Wednesday

LAWRENCE — University of Kansas Chancellor Robert Hemenway will introduce the new provost and executive vice chancellor for the Lawrence campus at a media event 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Adams Alumni Center in Lawrence.

The new provost will succeed David Shulenburger, who is stepping down June 1 after 13 years in the position to become vice president for academic affairs at the Washington, D.C.-based National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges.

The university conducted a national search and interviewed four finalists on campus in recent weeks.

WHAT: New provost announcement. The provost is the chief academic officer and operating officer for KU’s Lawrence campus.

WHEN: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15.

WHERE: Bruckmiller Room, second floor of the Adams Alumni Center, 1266 Oread Avenue (located just north of the Kansas Union, across street from parking garage).

WHO: Chancellor Robert Hemenway will welcome the new provost and spouse to KU.

PARKING: Alumni Center parking lot (if available) or the parking garage across the street.

SOUND: There will be a mult-box for sound. No media microphones on podium.
