KU to honor 39 high school seniors from Barton, Rush counties at Great Bend

LAWRENCE — Students from six Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, March 1, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

A total of 39 seniors from high schools in Barton and Rush counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:15 p.m. dinner program at The Club at Stoneridge, 1438 24th St., Great Bend.

Honorees’ names are listed below.

Marlesa Roney, vice provost for student success, will speak. Alumni Association representative Sarah Lingeman, Kansas Honors Program coordinator, is in charge of award presentations.

The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $13 each. Honored students will be guests of the alumni and endowment associations.

Mary King of Great Bend will be site coordinator. Perry and Krista Smith of Great Bend will be Barton County coordinators, and Mary Barrows of LaCrosse will be Rush County coordinator.

The Kansas Honors Program began in 1971. It has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
