KU to honor 38 high school seniors from Washington, Marshall counties March 7

LAWRENCE — Students from nine Kansas high schools will be honored Tuesday, March 7, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and KU Endowment.

A total of 38 seniors from high schools in Washington and Marshall counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at First National Bank, 101 C St., Washington.

Honorees’ names are listed below.

Leonard Krishtalka, director of the Natural History Museum and Biodiversity Research Center, will speak. Kansas Alumni Association representative Sarah Lingeman, Kansas Honors Program coordinator, is in charge of award presentations.

The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $9 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and KU Endowment.

Larry and Nancy Stoppel of Washington will be site coordinators. Kenneth and Zita Duensin of Blue Rapids will be county coordinators.

The Kansas Honors Program began in 1971. It has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
