KU to honor 23 high school seniors from Edwards, Pawnee, Stafford counties

LAWRENCE — Students from six Kansas high schools will be honored Thursday, Feb. 9, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.

A total of 23 seniors from high schools in Pawnee, Stafford and Edwards counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the Knights of Columbus facility, Scenic Drive, Larned.

Honorees’ names are listed below.

David Shulenburger, executive vice chancellor and provost, will speak. Kevin Corbett, president of the KU Alumni Association, is in charge of award presentations.

The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $11 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.

John Adams, Larned, will be the site coordinator. Michael Best, Larned; Gayle Cornwell, Saint John; and Al Frame, Kinsley, will be county coordinators.

The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
