KU to honor 36 high school seniors from Neosho, Wilson counties April 5

LAWRENCE — Students from six Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, April 5, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and KU Endowment.

A total of 36 seniors from high schools in Neosho and Wilson counties will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 6:30 p.m. dinner program at the American Legion Post 170, 301 N. Evergreen Ave., Chanute.

Honorees’ names are listed below.

Rick Ginsberg, dean of the School of Education, will speak. Sarah Lingeman, Kansas Honors Program coordinator for the Alumni Association, is in charge of award presentations.

The dinner program will cost parents and alumni $11 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and KU Endowment.

Virginia Crane of Chanute will be site coordinator and county coordinator for Neosho County. J.D. and Tonya Cox and Dennis Depew, all of Neodesha, will be Wilson County coordinators.

The Kansas Honors Program began in 1971. It has honored 95,794 students in the top 10 percent of high school senior classes throughout the state of Kansas.
