University mourns death of student Joseph Petermann

LAWRENCE -- Chancellor Robert E. Hemenway made the following statement today in response to the death of Joseph Petermann of Arlington Heights, Ill., a senior majoring in psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Mr. Petermann, 21, died at his home May 28. He was enrolled in summer classes at KU. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. tonight from at Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church will be at for  9:30 a.m. Thursday.

"On  behalf of the entire KU community, I want to express my profound sorrow at the death of Joseph Petermann. We are all deeply saddened at the sudden loss of this  bright young man and offer our condolences to  his family and his  friends."
