New York Post columnist to speak at Dole Institute
LAWRENCE — Ryan Sager, author and New York Post columnist, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at the Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas.
Sager’s new book is titled The Elephant in the Room: Evangelicals, Libertarians and the Battle to Control the Republican Party.
“The subject matter of Sager’s new book fits perfectly with our post-election programming,” said Bill Lacy, director of the Dole Institute. “We couldn’t pass up an opportunity to examine this critical aspect of America’s future political landscape and the impact of the mid-terms.”
Sager is a columnist and blogger for the New York Post and RealClearPolitics.com. Previously, Sager was a member of the editorial board of the New York Post and an editorial features editor and chief editorial writer for the start-up New York Sun, where he was a member of the founding staff in 2002. His writing has also appeared in numerous publications, including the Wall Street Journal, Reason, National Review, TCS Daily and The Atlantic Monthly.
Sager graduated from George Washington University in 2001 with a bachelor’s in history. He is a two-time winner of the Felix Morley Journalism Award. A native of Connecticut, he now lives in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Sager’s speech will be followed by a book signing. The lecture is free and open to the public.
As previously announced, ABC News Political Director Mark Halperin, author of The Way to Win: Taking the White House in 2008, will be the institute’s last program of the fall semester. Halperin’s lecture is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6.
The Dole Institute of Politics is dedicated to the mission of promoting public service, civic engagement and politics. It is located on KU’s west campus in Lawrence, next to the Lied Center.
