KU's Audio-Reader Network honors volunteers serving from five to 35 years

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas Audio-Reader Network honored 46 of its longtime volunteers for their service to the blind and print-disabled during an Oct. 10 banquet at the Lawrence Country Club.

Nearly 200 volunteers and their guests attended the event, which also marked Audio-Reader’s 35th year of service to the community.

Eleanor Symons, the first Audio-Reader volunteer to record for the service, received a plaque and commemorative CD in addition to being recognized for 35 years of service.

The Audio-Reader Network relies on these and hundreds of other volunteers to make printed material accessible for the print-disabled.

The honorees are listed below by their hometown and years of service.

CRAWFORD COUNTY
From Pittsburg

DOUGLAS COUNTY
