Event with journalist Leonard Pitts Jr. moved to Lied Center

LAWRENCE — Because of an overwhelming response, an Oct. 5 lecture by columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. has been moved to the Lied Center on the University of Kansas campus.

The lecture, originally slated for the adjacent Dole Institute of Politics, is set for 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are needed. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Pitts joined the Miami Herald in 1991 as its pop music critic. Since 1994, he has written a nationally syndicated column on pop culture, social issues and family life. In 2004, Pitts won the Pulitzer Prize for commentary. His appearance is sponsored by KU’s Department of English, the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications and the Dole Institute.
