President of Music Educators National Conference to visit KU
LAWRENCE — Lynn M. Brinckmeyer, president of the Music Educators National Conference and alumna of the University of Kansas, will return to campus April 25-27 as part of a lecture series sponsored by KU’s student chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.
While at KU, Brinckmeyer will give lectures on choral literature and teaching music. She will also be a guest clinician for the Division of Choral Music, part of KU’s School of Fine Arts. Her presentation, “Touch a Life: Teach Music,” will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in 575 Murphy Hall. A reception sponsored by KU’s student chapter of the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference will follow.
Brinckmeyer is an assistant professor of music and director of choral music education at Texas State University. She teaches courses in choral music education and directs the University Singers. Previously, she taught elementary music and middle school choir in New Mexico, later moving to higher education in the Pacific Northwest. She has conducted, lectured, presented master classes and performed all over the world.
Brinckmeyer has a bachelor’s in education and master’s in music education from Eastern New Mexico University. She earned her doctorate in music education from KU in 1993.
