KU student designs selected for national showcase conference in Dallas

LAWRENCE — Works from three University of Kansas design students were chosen for the third annual National Student Show and Conference, presented by the Dallas Society of Visual Communications.

The show was held March 15-17 in Dallas, Texas. The annual exhibition and competition was created to showcase student graphic design works from all over the country.

The Dallas Society of Visual Communications is an organization founded by visual artists that seeks to elevate the standards of visual communications. The society has more than 900 members, including designers, illustrators, photographers, writers, production artists, filmmakers, artist representatives, art directors, creative directors, vendors and suppliers.

KU students chosen for the show are listed below by hometown, level in school, major, parents’ names, high school and work included in the show.

NEMAHA COUNTY
From Centralia and Tai Po, Hong Kong
Chi Hiu Yim, junior in visual communications/graphic design, daughter of Chun and Si-Kuk Yip Yim of Hong Kong; Centralia High School; Fish Identity Study of Logo Design and Calder Magazine Spreads.

SHAWNEE COUNTY
From Topeka
Troy James Frost, senior in senior in visual communications/graphic design, son of Brian Frost; Washburn Rural High School; Drunk Driving PSA.

WYANDOTTE COUNTY
From Kansas City
Julie Tonnu Vinh, senior in visual communications/graphic design, daughter of Hoang and Happi Vinh; Sumner Academy of Arts and Science; Food for Thought and Invertebrate Branding Pieces and Kiosk 35 (book design).

HONG KONG
From Tai Po and Centralia, Kan.
