First undergraduate Hall Center Scholar announced
Brenna Daldorph and Andrei Codrescu.
LAWRENCE — The Hall Center for the Humanities at the University of Kansas has chosen sophomore Brenna Daldorph as its first Hall Center Scholar.
Hall Center Scholars are liaisons to the Humanities Lecture Series and interact with the well-known authors, scholars and public intellectuals who take part in it. The Friends of the Hall Center sponsors the program, which is open to KU undergraduates with strong academic credentials who have demonstrated significant engagement in the university community.
Daldorph is a 2006 graduate of Lawrence High School and is the daughter of Brian Daldorph and Sandra Tompson, both of Lawrence. She is pursuing a journalism degree with an international studies co-major and a minor in French. She is a National Merit Scholar and a Chancellors Club Scholar, as well as a recipient of the Wooldridge Scholarship through KU’s William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Daldorph works for the University Honors Program. Earlier this year, she traveled to New York City to observe and study the Lower East Side’s Jewish community. This summer, she was accepted into KU’s Honors Research Development Program. Next spring, she will study abroad in France.
Daldorph first came into contact with the Humanities Lecture Series last fall when she was asked to attend a luncheon with poet and National Public Radio commentator Andrei Codrescu. Fascinated by his unique tales of vampires and New Orleans, she has been involved with the Hall Center and its diverse array of lectures ever since.
The University of Kansas is a major comprehensive research and teaching university. University Relations is the central public relations office for KU's Lawrence campus.
