KU now offering customized training to bioscience industry
LAWRENCE — Bioscience Continuing Education at the University of Kansas is now offering customized professional training to organizations in the biomedical and pharmaceutical industries.
Grants from the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Labor have helped KU and bioscience experts develop science-based and business-oriented courses for leading companies in the greater Kansas City region. With a Department of Labor OneKC WIRED (Workforce Innovations Regional Economic Development) grant, KU will now focus on tailoring these short courses, seminars and conferences to the needs and specifications of individual organizations. KU is one of 13 partners involved in the grant.
“We are specializing in delivering customized on-site training to organizations using the most cost-effective methods possible,” said Karen Krumme, program manager for Bioscience Continuing Education. Contract services are available to any company and can supplement in-house training activities or provide all professional training for companies that do not offer those services.
The mission of Bioscience Continuing Education is to deliver specialized programs that provide enhanced professional skills and education for the bioscience industry workforce and to assist Kansas and the greater Kansas City region with their bioscience initiatives and economic development.
Bioscience courses include the larger subject matter areas of science-based information, regulatory compliance, trends in biomedical or pharmaceutical industry, management, leadership and team building.
For any area of professional development, KU Biosciences Continuing Education will collaborate with companies to deliver the most effective training solutions available in the market. Contact Karen Krumme, senior program manager, at (785) 864-7875 or kkrumme@ku.edu for more information or to schedule a consultation.
