Three KU Air Force ROTC cadets to receive commissions Dec. 15

LAWRENCE — Three graduating seniors who are members of the Air Force ROTC at the University of Kansas will be commissioned as officers at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Simons Media Room in the Dole Institute of Politics.

KU’s ROTC units are conducting separate commissioning ceremonies. The Navy and Marine ceremony will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Dole Institute, and the Army ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, in the Military Science Building.

Lt. Col. Sandra S. Leiker, professor of aerospace studies, will preside at the Air Force ROTC ceremony.

Each cadet is completing an undergraduate degree at KU this month and will be commissioned as second lieutenants. The cadets and their hometowns, majors, parents’ names, high schools and general assignments are listed below with the name of the officer administering the oath of office.

LEAVENWORTH COUNTY
From Fort Leavenworth 66026
Jaxon Reuben Lee, economics major, is the son of Ret. U.S. Army Col. John R. Lee of Leavenworth and is a Leavenworth High School graduate. John Lee will administer the oath for his son, who will be assigned as an air battle manager.

NEBRASKA
From Sutton 68979
Laurel Elizabeth Sheridan, sociology major, is the daughter of Mike and Julie Sheridan and a graduate of Sutton High School. Air Force 1st Lt. Kerry M. Sheridan of Weatherford, Texas, will administer the oath of office for her sister, who will be assigned as a combat systems officer.

NEVADA
From Henderson 89074
W. Kyle Wamser, is completing a bachelor’s degree in geography and is a master’s degree student in geography at KU. Capt. Daniel L. Hatchel, KU Air Force ROTC instructor, will administer the oath. Wamser will be assigned as a pilot trainee. He is the son of Stephen and Karen Wamser and a graduate of Green Valley High School.
