KU law school alumnus seeks presidency of American Bar Association

LAWRENCE — Paul T. Moxley, a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law and member of the KU Law Alumni Association Board of Governors, is a candidate for president-elect of the American Bar Association.

The American Bar Association is a voluntary membership organization for legal professionals across the United States. Moxley will seek the president-elect nomination at the association’s Midyear Meeting in February 2008 in Los Angeles.

Moxley received his law degree from KU in 1973. In 1971, he received the James Barclay Smith Moot Court Award. For the law school’s alumni board, Moxley represents District Seven, which includes much of the western United States. His term expires this year.

Moxley is a trial attorney practicing in Salt Lake City, Utah. He specializes in securities and commercial litigation and white-collar crime. He has been a partner in the firm of Holme Roberts & Owen LLP since 1999.

Moxley has served as the delegate for Utah to the American Bar Association House of Delegates since 2000 and was the delegate for the Utah Bar Association to the American Bar Association House of Delegates from 1996 to 2000. He has also served as a member on a number of the association’s committees.

Moxley has been a lecturer and panelist at Utah State Bar seminars, American Bar Association meetings and numerous securities litigation conferences. He has also served as a mediator in complex commercial transactions.

“I have had the great pleasure of working with Paul Moxley on the KU law school’s board of governors,” said Gail Agrawal, dean of the law school. “We have long benefited from his insights and his leadership. All of us at the KU law school can attest that the nation’s lawyers would be well served by Paul as president of the ABA.”
