KU Alumni Association welcomes new students to Edwards Campus picnic July 15

LAWRENCE — New University of Kansas students and their parents from Johnson and Wyandotte counties will be welcomed into the KU family at the Jayhawk Generations Welcome Picnic at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 15, in Overland Park.

The KU Alumni Association and its Kansas City Area chapter will greet the next generation of Jayhawks at the Edwards Campus, 12600 Quivira Rd. Area alumni, new students, students interested in learning more about KU and parents are invited to attend and enjoy complimentary food and beverages. Each new Jayhawk will also receive a free T-shirt.

Cory Langerstrom of Mission Hills, president of the Kansas City Board of Directors; Jeff Briley of Overland Park, member of the National Board of Directors; and Ryan Pfeiffer of Prairie Village and Sarah Harrington of Mission, both members of the Kansas City Board of Directors, are coordinating the event. Alumni association staff will arrive with the signature KU trailer full of grills, burgers and brats for the festivities. Current KU students, alumni and university representatives will mix and mingle with students to answer questions and offer advice.

Alumni association representatives and guests planning to attend are: Mike Davis, senior vice president for alumni programs; Danny Lewis, assistant director for alumni programs; Jill Miller, director of Kansas City programs; and Heath Peterson, director of Kansas programs.
