KU alumni to gather in Garden City for Great Plains Golf Festival on June 16

LAWRENCE — University of Kansas alumni from western Kansas are invited to hit the links at the Great Plains Golf Festival. The event begins at noon Saturday, June 16, at the Southwind Country Club, 77 Grandview Drive, Garden City.
Special guests are Bud Stallworth, former NBA basketball player and member of KU’s 1974 Final Four team; Mark Randall, former NBA basketball player and member of KU’s 1991 Final Four team; Ryan Graves, assistant KU baseball coach and former Chicago Cubs player; and Erin O’Neil, coach of KU’s women’s golf team.
The KU Alumni Association and its Great Plains alumni chapter will host the event, which is open to alumni and friends from Finney, Greeley, Hamilton, Kearny, Lane, Scott and Wichita counties.
The Great Plains Golf Festival will feature a four-person handicap scramble format. KU apparel and autographed memorabilia will be given as prizes. Proceeds will benefit the alumni association’s Jayhawk Generations Fund, which provides funds for increasing KU activities throughout the state and nation. Registration is $70 per golfer for KU Alumni Association members and $80 for nonmembers. Individual registrations are welcome. Guests who choose not to golf can attend a dinner that begins at 6:30 p.m. at a cost of $15 for adults, $7 for children 10-18 and free for children under 10.
Representing the alumni association will be Mike Davis, senior vice president for alumni programs; Heath Peterson, director of Kansas programs; and Eric Keller, Great Plains chapter president.
