KU alumni to gather in Pittsburg for golf tournament

LAWRENCE — University of Kansas alumni from southeast Kansas, southwest Missouri and northeast Oklahoma will hit the links next month in Pittsburg for the Tri-State Chapter golf tournament.
The event begins at 1 p.m. Monday, June 4, at the Crestwood Country Club course, 304 W. Crestview Ave.
Special guests are John Hadl, former two-time All-American football player and assistant athletics director at KU; David Lawrence, former KU football player and current football radio analyst for Jayhawk Radio Network; and Chris Piper, a member of KU’s 1988 national championship basketball team and current basketball analyst for Jayhawk Radio Network.
Alumni and university friends from the following counties are invited to attend: Allen, Bourbon, Cherokee, Crawford, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson counties in Kansas; Barton, Bates, Cass, Cedar, Christian, Douglas, Greene, Henry, Howell, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Vernon, Webster and Wright counties in Missouri; and Craig, Delaware, Mayes and Ottawa counties in Oklahoma.
The golf tournament and dinner will feature a four-person scramble format and prizes of KU apparel and autographed memorabilia. Proceeds will benefit the KU Alumni Association’s Jayhawk Generations Fund, which provides funds for increasing KU activities throughout the state and nation. Registration is $75 per golfer for KU Alumni Association members and $125 for nonmembers. Individual registrations are welcome, and guests may attend dinner only at 6:30 p.m. for a cost of $15 for alumni association members and $20 for nonmembers.
Representing the alumni association will be Mike Davis, senior vice president for alumni programs; Heath Peterson, director of Kansas programs; and Henry Menghini, local chapter leader in Pittsburg.
