Media advisory: Senator to speak to KU School of Engineering board, dean
LAWRENCE — U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., will visit the University of Kansas campus Friday, May 4. Media are invited to attend his meeting with School of Engineering officials.
WHO: U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan.
WHAT: Roberts will speak with School of Engineering Advisory Board and Dean Stuart Bell about a variety of science and technology issues, including the Senate’s recent passage of the America COMPETES Act. The bill is designed to restore America’s leadership in innovation and research by strengthening the skills of math and science teachers, increasing federal support for graduate student science programs and increasing the number of students who study foreign languages. The legislation also calls for significant increases in competitive federal research programs at the National Science Foundation and other agencies.
