KU plans numerous events as part of International Education Week
LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas will join schools across the country to observe International Education Week, Nov. 12-16.
Various public events and displays are planned, including:
— International Education Week Kick-Off, 10:30 a.m., Nov. 12, Strong Hall rotunda, sponsored by International Programs
— Picture the World photo exhibit, Nov. 12-16, Kansas Union Gallery, sponsored by Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholarship
— Study abroad photo exhibit, Nov. 12-16, fourth-floor display case in the Kansas Union, sponsored by Office of Study Abroad
— Chinese Tradition: Old and New library exhibit, Nov. 12-16, third floor in Watson Library, sponsored by KU Libraries
— Nuggets from the Archive: A Different Perspective on the July Crisis of 1914, brownbag lecture with Bruce Menning of the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, noon-1 p.m., Nov. 13, 318 Bailey Hall, sponsored by the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies
— KU Libraries open house for the new international area studies offices, 1-3 p.m., Nov. 13, Fifth floor in Watson Library, sponsored by KU Libraries

— Fourth annual International Dinner to raise money for Iraqi, Lebanese and Palestinian children, 6:30-9:30 p.m., Nov. 15, First Presbyterian Church, 2415 Clinton Parkway, tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door, sponsored by KU UNICEF, AIESEC, Ecumenical Christian Ministries, International Student Association, KU for Uganda, Millennium Development Goals Organization and Renaissance Church

Chancellor Robert Hemenway and Gov. Kathleen Sebelius have signed proclamations declaring International Education Week at KU and statewide. Lawrence Mayor Sue Hack will sign a proclamation at the City Commission meeting Nov. 13.
More than 1,600 international students are enrolled at KU. Each year 1,400 students from KU and universities throughout the country study abroad through KU’s programs.
