Media advisory: Rep. Nancy Boyda to visit KU campus Friday

WHAT: Rep. Nancy Boyda, D-Kan., will visit the University of Kansas campus Friday, Oct. 26, to learn more about the university’s nationally recognized pharmaceutical research program and tour the $20 million addition under construction at the Structural Biology Center, 2121 Simons Drive.

Recently, Boyda helped direct $425,000 in federal funding for cutting-edge research to the KU School of Pharmacy. The funding bill is currently headed to conference committee.

Professors Scott Weir, Jeff Aube and George Wilson will brief Boyda on their work in developing innovative drugs to fight cancer and other ailments. KU architect Warren Corman also will speak on the unique design of the addition to SBC.

WHEN: 3:30-4:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26

WHERE: Meet at 100 Multidisciplinary Research Building, 2030 Becker Drive on KU’s west campus. From 19th and Iowa streets, turn west. Turn left on Constant Avenue, then right on Becker Drive. Follow the curve around to MRB.
