LAWRENCE — Future chemists, engineers, journalists and musicians are among the 16 students who have been named 2007-08 Chancellors Club Scholars at the University of Kansas.

All are National Merit finalists with outstanding high school achievement and leadership records. Eleven graduated from Kansas high schools and five from out-of-state schools. Each has received a renewable scholarship from the Chancellors Club.

The Chancellors Club, a major-donor organization at KU Endowment, has awarded these scholarships to 276 students since the program began in 1979. KU Endowment is an independent, nonprofit organization serving as the official fundraising and fund-management organization for KU. Founded in 1891, KU Endowment is the first foundation of its kind at a U.S. public university.
