Homecoming events at KU include parade, jet flyover

LAWRENCE — Details have been finalized for two homecoming events at the University of Kansas.

The homecoming parade will start at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. The parade route starts in front of the Kansas Union and continues along Jayhawk Boulevard to the Chi Omega fountain. Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius will be the grand marshal. Sebelius earned a master’s in public administration from KU in 1980.

Just before the homecoming football game against the University of Nebraska starts at 11:30 a.m., two F/A-18 fighter jets will fly over Memorial Stadium. The jets will be piloted by KU graduates Capt. Noah Marquardt and Capt. Michael Barnett. Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 533 is based in Beaufort, S.C.

Members of the Falcon Exhibition Skydiving Team, based in Olathe, will parachute into the stadium after the flyover.

The event has been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.
