Hemenway to speak at ceremony installing chancellor at University of Nebraska-Omaha

LAWRENCE — University of Kansas Chancellor Robert Hemenway will deliver remarks at the ceremony installing John E. Christensen as chancellor of the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Christensen received his doctorate from KU in 1980. Hemenway received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 1963 and an honorary doctorate from the school in 2001. He earned his doctorate in English from Kent State University in Ohio.

“It’s an honor to participate in installing a KU graduate as the leader of my alma mater,” Hemenway said. “Dr. Christensen has had a distinguished career at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and his leadership will reflect his dedication to that institution and the Omaha community.”

The installation ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Strauss Performing Arts Center on the university’s campus in Omaha. University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken will preside over the event, which is open to the public.
