Media advisory: KU to present biofuel research to Kansas agriculture secretary
LAWRENCE — Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Adrian Polansky will visit the University of Kansas campus this week to learn more about KU research initiatives involving biorefining and biofuels.
WHAT: Polansky will meet with faculty members and tour KU’s biodiesel research facility and other labs. The purpose of his visit is to familiarize himself with KU’s research capacity and expertise, and to discuss potential collaborations involving his office.
WHEN AND WHERE: Tuesday, Sept. 18
9-10:45 a.m. — Individual meetings with KU researchers
10:45-11:30 a.m. — Tour 212 Burt Hall and meet with Bob Honea, Dennis Lane, Susan Williams and Ilya Tabakh of KU’s Transportation Research Institute (note: 212 Burt Hall houses KU’s biodiesel reactors)
11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. — Luncheon meeting with KU researchers and Stuart Bell, dean of the School of Engineering
12:30-1 p.m. — Media availability with Polansky and Laurence Weatherley, professor and chair of chemical and petroleum engineering and chair of the KU Energy Council, at 2001 Eaton Hall (Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science conference room)
