‘Hawk Talk’ to provide information about KU to prospective students

LAWRENCE — High school seniors from the Kansas City area who want to know more about the University of Kansas are invited to attend a “Hawk Talk” event later this month.

The program takes place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Regnier Hall on KU’s Edwards Campus in Overland Park.

Before the formal program begins at 7:15 p.m., students and guests can attend an information fair staffed by representatives from more than 20 academic departments and support services offices. A barbeque dinner prepared by the KU Alumni Association will also be offered.

The formal program will include a welcome address from KU alumnus and Fox 4 news anchor John Holt. Information will be provided about KU’s position as one of the nation’s top public institutions. Additionally, breakout sessions will be offered for students who want to meet with representatives from individual offices and departments.

Throughout the evening, Office of Admissions and Scholarships staff members, student ambassadors and area alumni will answer questions about KU and the admissions process.

At the end of the evening, prizes will be raffled, including KU memorabilia and a $250 gift certificate for textbooks from the KU Bookstore to be used when the student enrolls at KU.

The event is free. All students in the greater Kansas City area are welcome to attend and are encouraged to bring parents and guests. Registration is encouraged but not required. Students can register for the event on the Office of Admissions and Scholarships Web site or by calling (785) 864-3911.
