KU, Coach Self encourage fans to celebrate safely

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas and men’s basketball Coach Bill Self are encouraging fans to celebrate safely while enjoying the final game of the NCAA tournament.

Ads, posters and fliers that have been distributed throughout campus and downtown Lawrence bear a message from Self: “The nation is watching; let’s show some class. Jayhawks celebrate safely.”

Fans will have the opportunity to watch tonight's title game against Memphis on the video board at Allen Fieldhouse. The south and east entrances of the fieldhouse will open at 7:30 p.m. Tip-off will be approximately 8:21 p.m. from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The KU pep band and the mascots will be on hand. The fieldhouse will close immediately after the game is over.
