Rep. Moore: Jayhawk victory is perfect end to exciting season

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Dennis Moore (Third District - Kansas) released the following statement on Tuesday after the University of Kansas men's basketball team defeated the University of Memphis Tigers 75-68 in the final game of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament in San Antonio, Texas, on Monday night.

"Jayhawk fans have known for a long time that KU has the best of everything - outstanding students, faculty and fans!

"As we celebrate another exciting basketball season and this well-deserved national championship title, we must take a moment to honor the dedication and excellence that these student athletes have shown, the leadership of Coach Bill Self and the support of the entire University family.

"That's why I will be introducing a resolution commending the Jayhawks for winning the 2008 NCAA Basketball Championship and congratulating everyone associated with the program for their commitment to, and pride in, the Jayhawk basketball program.

"With such outstanding seasons for both the football and basketball programs, it's clear that Jayhawks everywhere have a lot to be proud of this year! Rock Chalk!"
