Selected KU offices to have extended hours as fall semester begins

LAWRENCE — Some offices at the University of Kansas will have extended hours Monday-Thursday, Aug. 18-21, to accommodate new and returning students during the first week of the fall semester.

Offices will be staffed from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. during those four days. Regular hours for most offices are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In addition, on the first two days of classes, Aug. 21 and 22, KU Info tables will be set up from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Strong Hall rotunda and in front of Wescoe Hall and Watson Library. KU staff and faculty volunteers will be available to provide assistance and directions. The KU Info desk in the Kansas Union will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Staff from participating offices will track the number of students they help to assess needs for future KU office openings.

The following offices will have extended hours:

— Academic Achievement and Access Center, 22 Strong Hall, (785) 864-4064
— Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center, (785) 864-3546, will be open from 5:30 a.m. to midnight (regular hours)
— Bursar’s Office, 21 Strong Hall, (785) 864-3322 (cashier hours are 8:10 am to 4 p.m. in 23 Strong Hall)
— Campus phone operators, (785) 864-2700 (Automated Directory Assistance available 24 hours a day)
— College Student Academic Services, 109 Strong Hall, (785) 864-3500
—Information Technology Customer Service Center, Computer Center, (785) 764-8080, will be available by phone from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Regular walk-in hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
— KU Card Center, fourth floor, Kansas Union, (785) 864-5845, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
— KU Info, fourth floor, Kansas Union, (785) 864-3506, will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (regular hours)

In addition, the Department of Student Housing, Suite DSH in Corbin Hall, will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 13-15; from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 17; and from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 Aug. 18.
