Athletic trainers’ society announces academic honors for KU students
LAWRENCE — Twelve University of Kansas athletic training students who have distinguished themselves through outstanding academic achievement recently were honored by the Kansas Athletic Trainers’ Society.
In all, 40 students in accredited athletic training education programs in Kansas were recognized. Honorees will receive a certificate of achievement and public recognition at the society’s annual business meeting.
First Team honorees must have been full-time undergraduate students with junior status or higher and maintained a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade-point average, achieved a minimum 3.8 grade-point average for the 2007-08 academic year and received a clinical performance rating of four out of five from their education program directors.
Second Team honorees must have been full-time undergraduate students with sophomore status or higher and maintained a minimum 3.6 cumulative grade-point average, achieved a minimum 3.6 grade-point average for the 2007-08 academic year and received a clinical performance rating of four out of five from their education program directors.
Honorable Mention honorees must have been full-time undergraduate students with sophomore status or higher and maintained a minimum 3.4 cumulative grade-point average, achieved a minimum 3.4 grade-point average for the 2007-08 academic year and received a clinical performance rating of four out of five from their education program directors.
Athletic trainers are allied health care professionals who specialize in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses, often with a focus on athletes and athletic injuries. The Kansas Athletic Trainers’ Society helps assure top quality health care to the physically active in Kansas and promotes and increases knowledge of the profession of athletic training to the citizens of the state of Kansas.
