Media advisory: Governor, KU to celebrate upcoming pharmacy school expansion

WHO: Gov. Kathleen Sebelius will ceremonially sign the bill authorizing the expansion of the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy.

WHEN: 2 p.m. Monday, June 23

WHERE: Roberts Amphitheater, KU School of Medicine-Wichita, 1010 N. Kansas

WHAT: The KU School of Pharmacy is Kansas’ only pharmacy school and is nationally recognized for its excellence in teaching new pharmacists and in performing cutting-edge research. Sebelius will ceremonially sign the bill that sets in motion an expansion that will almost double the number of students the school can accept per year, from 105 to as many as 190. The expansion also will create a satellite program at the KU School of Medicine-Wichita for as many as 40 of those students, as well as increase the number of students that can be taught in Lawrence.
