Lied Center gives away free music downloads

LAWRENCE — The Lied Center of Kansas at the University of Kansas has partnered with Apple Inc. to produce Lied Center iTunes cards that allow patrons to download 20 free songs by artists from the 2008-09 season.

The Lied Center negotiated the partnership to seek new avenues for communicating with existing patrons and to extend an invitation to new ones. Featured artists include Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass and the Turtle Island String Quartet.

“We’re delighted to be working with Apple Inc. to provide the Lied Center iTunes card,” said Executive Director Tim Van Leer. “By using the card, you can listen to and keep a sample of the music from what’s going to be an incredible season. It’s a great taste of what’s coming up at the Lied.”

The iTunes cards are available at the Lied Center ticket office.

Media advisory: News releases, images and related information about Lied Center events will be available online about six weeks before each event during the 2008-09 season. To access these materials online, visit www.lied.ku.edu/press. This online resource is for news media only.
