University mourns endowment trustee emeritus ‘Bud’ Weir
LAWRENCE — University of Kansas Chancellor Robert Hemenway and KU Endowment President Dale Seuferling issued the following statements regarding the death of Ralph L. “Bud” Weir Jr., who died Feb. 27 in his Colorado Springs home at the age of 86. He and his wife, Barbara, supported KU’s William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications and Spencer Museum of Art. They were lifetime members of the Chancellors Club, KU’s major-donor organization. Bud Weir was a trustee emeritus of KU Endowment.
Chancellor Robert Hemenway:
“Nearly 70 years ago, Bud Weir came to KU and truly never left. He may have traveled all over the world with the Flying Jayhawks, and he may not have spent his life in Lawrence, but I have no doubt that his heart was always on Mount Oread. All who knew and admired Bud will miss him very much, and all of KU shares his loss with his wife, Barbara, and his entire family.”
Dale Seuferling:
“The KU Endowment Association was proud to have benefited from Bud Weir’s advice and support through his service as a member of the Board of Trustees. This was just one of many ways he supported his university during more than 68 years of life as a Jayhawk. Bud was loyal and generous.”
The University of Kansas is a major comprehensive research and teaching university. University Relations is the central public relations office for KU's Lawrence campus.
